Write for Trazzler
Do you know something that we don’t?
Of course you do. Trazzler trips are hand–picked, concise, and real–life. Want to take a crack at writing your own? Learn more.
Trazzler helps would-be travelers answer the question “Where should I go?” Trazzlers meander through a world of trips—hand-picked, concise, compellingly written slices of life that pull the reader into a real experience: a hotel stay, walk, adventure, spa, restaurant, ice cream stand, pony ride... really anywhere that travel can take you. And that’s where you come in. Each Trazzler trip is dominated by a photo that sets the scene so that your writing can tell the rest of the story. Our travel-writing philosophy is different from anything else out there, so be sure to study our writing guide and ramble through our editor's favorites before creating your first trips.
Extra points if you nail our signature style, don’t require a lot of editing, find an area or special angle that we would have to be crazy not to cover, or, best of all, make us forget about our mundane lives and take us to a place that we’ve never been before. I’m sure we don’t have to tell you this, but no shilling, plagiarizing, or writing about places you’ve never been, okay?
Who Writes for Trazzler?
1. Travelers
Does it drive you crazy that no one has written about your favorite places? Are you tired of crafting a brilliant trip review only to have it languish deep in a forum or on a messy site littered with advertising? Use Trazzler to tell your friends about your favorite places, promote those special spots that travelers overlook, enlighten others about the way that you travel, or just to keep track of where you have been. Keep checking back, because there are big plans to allow you to share trips with friends (on Facebook and Trazzler.com).
2. Travel Writers – We’re Hiring!
Trazzler is scouting for experts who can fan out all over the globe and write about what they know best. Perhaps your expertise is regional: Northern California, Southeast Asia, Canadian National Parks... or you have a particular obsession (we love obsessions) that drives you to travel all over the place: surfing, boutique hotels, spas, food, art, antiques... What we are looking for is top-notch writers who can create a regional or “obsession” beat and run with it.
We hire freelancers to write blocks of trips (for example, 20 trips for $500) and "community managers" and "content wranglers" for part-time, but well-compensated gigs ($1000 per month). After requesting access on this page, wait to receive a confirmation email, then go to the "My Trips" section and submit a couple of trips (65-100 words) that show us what you can do. (Note: we do not pay for individual trips.) Once you are happy with them, you can click the "Work for Trazzler" promo on the "My Trips" page to apply for consideration. We promise to read each and every submission and contact you about an open position if your writing is a good fit for Trazzler. As our funding grows in the next few months we'll be adding more writers so don't despair if you don't hear back from us right away.
3. Monthly Contest Contributors
We can't hire each and every one of the wildly talented Trazzler writers who apply, but we do have another way to reward writers who are up for a challenge. Here's how it works: Every month, our editor comes up with a theme. Using the theme as inspiration, writers can submit a trip (or multiple trips) and enter to win a $250 contract to write ten trips. Our editors then select their favorite trip(s) and announce the winner(s) in the next monthly newsletter.
This Month's Theme: ColdAward: $250 Contract to Write 10 Trips (submit trips by January 12, 2009)

Riff off the idea of "cold" however you see fit. Snow, ice, skiing, winter sports...but also ice cream, popsicles, caves, frigid water... To enter, just add the tag "cold" to any new trips that you write.
Past Themes:November: Urban Enigmas (Winners: Gareth Thornton and Amanda Scotese)
October: Mom and Pops (Winner: Tina Jett)
